Dr Niels Schiersing, LLD (Dr. Habil.), Arbitration Chambers, is an independent international commercial arbitrator and a part-time scholar. He is a Danish national and is both civil law (Denmark) and common law (England & Wales) qualified. He divides his time between Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
He specialises in (comparative) contract law, including the principles for the determination and calculation of damages and, more generally, principles governing the valuation of businesses, assets and contractual rights, with a wide application in respect of industries and sectors and governing laws.
As an arbitrator, he is often appointed in disputes pertaining to, inter alia, post-M&A disputes, JVs, partnerships and shareholders’ agreements.
Dr Schiersing has been appointed arbitrator in more than 120 matters by all of the key arbitral institutions. , including the ICC, LCIA, SIAC, SCC, DIAC, HKIAC and KCAB.
